London Summer Olympic Pavilion
Fibrous Flow
A competition proposal for the London Olympics Information Pavilion as an experimentation platform to a research conducted during the first year of the masters course at the Staedelschule Architectural Class.
An in-depth analysis was done on the notion of “Information” and its relation ship to Flow.
Flow is considered as the continuous homogeneous motion and organization of sets of visitors. Flow is influenced, shaped and reshaped by the quality, kind and the density of the respective information.
Two kinds of information categories where constructed – the dynamic and the static information. Dynamic Information is the kind of information where it is in continuous state of change ( Medal statistics, news etc.). Dynamic information is consumed and exchanged in a quick manner, hence is being represented and articulated by Dynamic flow of people within the pavilion.
Static Information on the other hand represents the type of information which is stationary and takes longer time to consume. Static information is translated into Static flow, i.e. people start to gradually slow down until stationary, spaces starts to emerge from the dynamic infrastructural flow.
